Roast: Medium Review Date: October 2011
Origin: Sidama (also Sidamo) growing region, southern Ethiopia. Price: $14.90/12 ounces

Blind Assessment: Dark chocolate dominates aroma and cup, with complications of flowers, apricot-like fruit, walnut, fresh-cut cedar. Gentle, roast-muted acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Rich, walnutty, rather dry finish.

Notes: This coffee is certified organically grown and Fair Trade, meaning it was purchased from small-holding farmers at a "fair" or economically sustainable price. This coffee is processed "naturally" which means the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after removal of the fruit. Bard Coffee is a coffeehouse and roasting company based in Portland, Maine particularly focused on distinctive single-origin coffees. Bard Coffee is co-owned by Bob Garver, founder of Wicked Joe Coffee Roasting and a frequent judge at barista competitions in the United States and internationally. Who Should Drink It: Those coffee drinkers who avoid aggressive acidity and enjoy dark chocolate and nut nuance.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
