Roast: Medium Review Date: June 2011
Origin: South-central Kenya. Price: CAD $14.49/16 ounces

Blind Assessment: Deep, sweet, and pungent with the dry fruit notes: black currant and cherry complicated by suggestions of fresh-tanned leather and fresh-cut fir. The acidity is rich and assertive, the mouthfeel heavy but slightly lean. The dry berry notes carry deep into an intense, resonant finish.

Notes: This coffee is only available retail to consumers in Canada. Despite grower discontent and sporadic social disorder, Kenya continues to produce some of the world's most elegant and distinctive coffees. AA is the highest grade of Kenya coffee based on bean size and relative freedom from physical defect. Founded in 1975, Timothy's World Coffee is a Toronto-based, quality-oriented specialty coffee chain. Visit www.timothys.com or call 888-937-6278 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Big, intense Kenya with the celebrated black currant note in full display.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
