Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: April 2011
Origin: Huila Department, Colombia Price: $13.00/250 grams (8.8 oz.)

Blind Assessment: Quiet introduction: soft notes of fir, flowers and milk chocolate in the aroma. All of this soars in the cup, intense yet perfectly balanced. The floral notes, which take back seat to the milk chocolate and gently pungent fir in the cup, move forward again in a very sweet, clean finish. Delicately tart acidity, silky mouthfeel.

Notes: Huila is probably the most admired of Colombia coffee growing regions; this coffee was produced on the farm “La Escuelita,” named after a school located in a nearby village. Coava is a Portland based coffee roaster that aims to provide quality coffee and the knowledge needed to properly brew that coffee. Who Should Drink It: An almost miraculously pure, balanced coffee.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
