Roast: Medium Review Date: January 2011
Origin: Western Ethiopia Price: $14.00/250 grams (8.8 oz)

Blind Assessment: Layers of rose, peach and lemon in the aroma. Silky mouthfeel, medium body, crisp acidity. Flowers move forward in the cup with complex suggestions of rose and lavender and continued complications of ripe citrus and a sweeter stone fruit. The flavor intrigue carries seamlessly from cup to a dry-edged, flavor-saturated finish.

Notes: A special selection of hand-sorted coffee from Joseph Brodsky's Ninety-Plus Coffee export/import program. Ethiopian coffees like this one processed by the wet or washed method (fruit skin and pulp are removed before drying) express floral and citrus notes with particular intensity. Coava is a Portland based coffee roaster that aims to provide quality coffee and the knowledge needed to properly brew that coffee. Who Should Drink It: Deeply complex coffee. Drink it and contemplate.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
