  • Monserrate Competition Blend

Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: January 2011
Origin: Huila Department, Colombia Price: $10.50/250 grams (8.8 oz.)

Blind Assessment: Refined fruit-toned acidity points up flavors of ripe lemon, orange, honey and a toasty chocolate that becomes more pronounced in the finish. Syrupy mouthfeel, bright but balanced overall.

Notes: In a community of over forty-two family farms, Monserrate coffee producers organized several years ago into the Associative Group of Producers of the New Millennium and have been expanding their numbers since. A blend of the top scoring lots from an annual competition that is open to coffee producers in the Monserrate community. Coava is a Portland based coffee roaster that aims to provide quality coffee and the knowledge needed to properly brew that coffee. Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
