Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: September 2010
Origin: Not disclosed. Price: $12.99/12 oz.

Blind Assessment: Evaluated as espresso. In the small cup impressively deep and complex. Co-taster Andy Newbom (92) cited the range and balance of sensation ("intense yet nuanced"; "awesome"); Ken (92) was more specific in his praise of a pungent, slightly savory fruit: "blackcurrant, blackberry, aromatic wood, licorice." Maintains complexity in four parts milk: "chocolaty... completely malty" (Andy), "crisp, butterscotch and caramel" (Ken).

Notes: Fair-Trade certified, meaning the components of this blend were purchased from small-holding farmers at a "fair" or economically sustainable price. With two locations in the town of Ithaca, the Ithaca Coffee Company offers gift baskets, gourmet food and craft beer in addition to freshly roasted coffee. Who Should Drink It: Deep, complex straight espresso that carries its distinction nicely into tall milk.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
