  • Peru Cafe Femenino

Roast: Medium Review Date: June 2010
Origin: Lambayeque region, Peru Price: CAD $13.00/16 oz.

Blind Assessment: Rich, deep aroma: nut, a hint of chocolate. In the cup soft acidity, lightly syrupy mouthfeel, and a distinct and pleasing sweet cocoa note complicated by roasted nut. Gently rich, though rather short finish.

Notes: This coffee is organic and Fair Trade certified, the latter meaning it was purchased from small-holding farmers at a "fair" or economically sustainable price. Cafe Femenino is an organization that supports women farmers and their families in coffee growing communities. Based in London, Ontario, Canada, The Fire Roasted Coffee Company focuses on organic and Fair Trade certified coffees. Their motto, "Our family loves coffee. Our coffees show it!" Who Should Drink It: Delicately crisp, pleasingly cocoa-toned coffee with impeccable environmental and socio-economic credentials.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
