Coffee Review - Peru La Florida from Durango Coffee
  • Durango Coffee

    Durango, Colorado
  • Natural Peru La Florida

Roast: Medium Review Date: June 2010
Origin: Chanchamayo growing region, Peru Price: $10.25/12 oz.

Blind Assessment: Sweet, distinctly nut-toned aroma with hints of aromatic wood and flowers. In the cup soft acidity, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Simple and balanced, with a roundly gentle mix of nut and molasses-toned chocolate. Both carry into a sweet-toned finish.

Notes: La Florida is a cooperative of small-holding growers in the classic Chanchamayo growing region of south-central Peru. The term "natural" in this case does not refer to how the coffee was processed but rather indicates that this coffee was grown without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Located in southwestern Colorado, Durango Coffee lays claim to a rich coffee history that dates to 1886. Its motto is "Tough Town Great Coffee." Visit or call 800-748-2275 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: A subtle, crisply sweet Peru with what would appear to be reassuring environmental and social credentials.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
