Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: May 2010
Origin: Central Zambia Price: $12.80/16 oz.

Blind Assessment: Sweet-toned, softly pungent aroma with considerable complexity: caramel, milk chocolate, nut, raisin, a hint of flowers. In the cup delicate, floral-toned acidity, lean but silky mouthfeel, and continued understated complexity: milk chocolate, raisin, dusk flowers. Good flavor continuity in a sweet finish.

Notes: This coffee was grown in the sandy soil of central Zambia on the outskirts of the mining town of Ndola. Founded in 1991, City Bean is a quality-focused roaster with wholesale operations and two retail locations. City Bean also operates a sister business, Solana Tea Company. Visit www.citybean.com or call 888-248-9232 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: An unusual opportunity to sample the soft but gently floral and complex cup typical of the better coffees of Zambia.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
