Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: May 2010
Origin: San Marcos growing region, southwestern Guatemala. Price: $12.50/16 oz.

Blind Assessment: Balanced and quietly complete. Sweetly and gently acidy, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Dark chocolate, fir, caramel and, particularly as the cup cools, an orangy, raisiny fruit. The chocolate in particular carries into a rich, very sweet-toned finish.

Notes: Chuck Roast is named for Chuck Jones, co-founder of Jones Coffee, a Pasadena roasting company. Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) is the highest grade of Guatemala coffee. This SHB is from Finca La Igualdad in northwestern Guatemala. Visit www.thebestcoffee.com or call 626-654-9291 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Classic American breakfast cup in a medium-dark style: balanced, resonantly bright, sweet-finishing.
