  • Colombia Monserrate

Roast: Light Review Date: April 2010
Origin: Huila Department, Colombia Price: $9.00 / 250 g. (8.8 oz.)

Blind Assessment: Soft but complex aroma, suggesting milk chocolate, caramel, nut, aromatic wood. Vivid fruit-toned acidity; a distinct orangy citrus brightens the soft chocolate and caramel tendencies of the aroma. Rich, flavor-saturated, rather dry finish.

Notes: Monserrate is produced by a community of 42 family farms near the town of La Plata in Huila Department. These farmers organized several years ago into the Associative Group of Producers of the New Millennium and have been expanding their numbers since. Coava is a Portland based coffee roaster that aims to provide quality coffee and the knowledge needed to properly brew that coffee. Who Should Drink It: Balances the delicate and assertive; easy to drink all day long.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
