Roast: Medium Review Date: March 2010
Origin: Africa, Indonesia. Price: $12.75 / 12 oz.

Blind Assessment: Sweet and complex aromatically, combining round floral tones with stone fruit, toast and caramel. In the small cup medium-bodied and bright. The flowers persist, softening slightly, and the fruit turns toward crushed strawberry, carrying into a rich finish. The flavor profile is sustained in two parts milk, with a rounder, sweeter, chocolate-tinged version of flowers and fruit.

Notes: Certified organic, this is the "Winter 2010" version of a seasonally changing espresso blend, this time combining coffees from Africa and Indonesia. Based in the San Diego area, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is a retailer and wholesaler that focuses on organic and socially responsible coffees. Who Should Drink It: A sweet, high-toned espresso, a winter offering but pointing toward spring.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
