  • Victrola Coffee Roasters

    Seattle, Washington
  • Sulawesi Toraja Sapan Minanga

Roast: Medium-Dark Review Date: February 2010
Origin: Toraja growing region, southwestern Sulawesi, Indonesia Price: NA

Blind Assessment: Aromatically intense with layers of sweet-toned earth and aromatic wood with an undercurrent of fruit. In the cup syrupy body and penetrating flavors of cedar, pungent, bittersweet chocolate and, as the cup cools, a heightened fruit sensation. Long, dry finish; the aromatic wood and earth-toned chocolate notes in particular linger.

Notes: Coffee from the Toraja region of Sulawesi, once Celebes, typically displays a wild and often earth-toned character, the result of unorthodox methods of fruit removal and drying. Victrola is a small-batch, hands-on roaster with a passionate commitment to quality and distinctiveness. Visit www.victrolacoffee.com or call 206-624-1725 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: A forceful cup, pungent and intense.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
