Blind Assessment: The edge of fruit ferment typical of this style of dry-processed coffee richly complicates the profile. Sweet cherryish fruit, distinct brandy-like notes and a hint of chocolate in the aroma. In the cup quietly vibrant acidity, full mouthfeel, continued rich brandy and chocolate notes with a suggestion of lemon. All carry into a surprisingly clean, balanced but deep finish.

Notes: Certified organically grown, this coffee is processed with great care by Ethiopia's only female coffee mill owner, Asnakech Thomas, who pays high prices for ripe cherry from smallholders in Ethiopia's Amaro region. This coffee is dry-processed, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit, producing a flavor profile that is lower-toned than the usual Ethiopia Sidamo profile, with deeper, wine-and berry-like fruit. Bull Run is a specialty coffee roaster, wholesaler and retailer with a new coffee bar in Minneapolis. It is a member of 1% For Humanity, an association of businesses that donate at least 1% of revenues to nonprofit organizations. Who Should Drink It: A fine coffee for any time of day, but the brandy and chocolate notes make it a classic after-dinner (or after any meal) choice.
