Roast: Medium-Light Review Date: April 2006
Origin: Kona growing district, "Big Island" of Hawaii. Price: NA

Blind Assessment: Rich aroma: semi-sweet chocolate and suggestions of apple, with floral notes at the top. In the cup rather big-bodied and rich, with continuing distinct floral top notes and a rather dominating, roundly tart acidity that nearly overwhelms but still allows further suggestions of chocolate, ripe tomato, orange and cedar.

Notes: Fancy is the second highest grade of Kona coffee (Extra Fancy is the highest), with the discrimination based mainly on bean size. A&E Roastery is a small-batch wholesale roaster specializing in custom roasting with an emphasis on Fair-Trade certified coffees. Visit www.AERoastery.com or call 603-578-3338 for more information.

Who Should Drink It: Those who enjoy both acidy austerity and floral seduction.

Coffee, more so than wine, is a continually changing product. Recent reviews, whether written by Coffee Review or readers, are most likely to reflect current versions of a given coffee.
